Kathmandu Dreams III

...Kathmandu Dreams III

I think "Kathmandu Dreams III" is just lovely and the combination of yellow, blue, and red exudes sunshine and warmth. It is the third necklace in my Kathmandu Dreams series.

The focal point of this necklace is the solid brass pendant, which features coral, resin, and turquoise inlay. The pendant, which was designed and handmade by a Nepalese artisan, invokes a horseshoe shape finished by a dramatic flourish of red coral and blue turquoise.

One set of handmade Nepalese yellow resin beads echo the resin in the pendent and bring a sense of unity to the design. Coin shaped blue Val Verde turquoise with lovely matrices, faceted deep red coral complete, and tiny handmade solid brass beads complete this necklace.

Turquoise is a powerful healing stone that can help wearers with meditation, balance, and communication. It is also a protective stone that enhances love, friendship, and loyalty. Coral brings peace, settles emotions, and protects against depression. It also helps with intuition and visualization (source: www.thatcrystalsite.com).

Including the artisan-crafted solid brass clasp, this moderately lightweight necklace is an impressive 22" long, or matinee length. The pendant is 3 1/2" long by 2" wide. The resin beads are 1 1/2" by 1/2".

Mavi: OOAK Turkoman Tribal Necklace

Introducing...

MAVI
a one-of-a-kind statement necklace

On a life-size bust

Mavi is the Turkish word for the color blue, and the lapis lazuli in this necklace is a deep blue with a hint of shimmer from flecks of naturally occurring pyrite.  Lapis is known for its  protective, stress relieving, and peace enhancing qualities.  It also encourages self-awareness, self-expression, and enhances one's sense of confidence.  The lapis is enough to turn heads, but all together with its large Turkoman artisan crafted focal pendant and accent beads, this one-of-a-kind necklace is a truly a statement piece.

The Turkoman tribal peoples live in Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, and Iran.  They make beautiful beads and pendants with semiprecious stone inlay using traditional practices by melting down old coins and hand designing each bead .  And because of their handmade nature, each bead is different, yet full of human-touched warmth and character.

The focal piece of "Mavi" is a large 1 1/2" by 1 5/16" Turkoman artisan crafted goldwashed pendant.  A starry blue goldstone tube rests between the pendant's bails.  Although new construction, the pendant is crafted in an old, Afghani style.
The jade is multicolored with shades of red, green, and golden hues.

Two smaller Turkoman artisan-crafted Afghani style beads with deep blue lapis lazuli inlay (slightly under an inch in size) are framed between two hand carved jade beads.

Jade helps one connect to her inner self.  It brings joy, protection, peace, healing, and balance.  Pyrite is grounding, encourages positivity and the release of old emotional baggage.  It is also a protective and enhances one's "intelligence, mental stability, logic, analysis, creativity, memory, and psychic development."

Near the ends of the necklace are two more Turkoman artisan-crafted Afghani style tribal beads with floral detail.

This necklace closes with a simple, yet elegant Bali sterling silver clasp.  I've designed the open part of the clasp hook to face upward, as I think this position is more secure while still being pleasing to the eye.

In low light with no flash.  You can also see the blue goldstone tube that supports the pendant.

*SOLD* The Rachel - OOAK Pink Jade Necklace with Lucite & Vintage Lucite, Ceramic, and Antique Bronze Globes

I have a bad habit.  I love to make pieces that become instant favorites!  This necklace, The Rachel, named for my best friend who suggested the basic color scheme, is one of those instant favorites.  It is bohemian, one-of-a-kind, and full of color and texture.  If you don't like to receive compliments, or have pieces that you can wear  with a host of colors and for almost any occasion, then this isn't the necklace for you!  But, if you do love to hear, "Where did you get that?" or "Wow, what a necklace!" then The Rachel is definitely a Bohemian Earth design you should seriously consider (and, you'll know that you are the only person wearing this one-of-a-kind piece)!

Many materials went into this necklace's design.  It features hot pink jade gemstones, six black and gold Lucite globes, two vintage faceted aged gold Lucite beads from Turkey with an amazing pattern, four ceramic globes with beautiful greens, browns, and a touch of turquoise blue, and two antiqued brass Bali style beads, which make Earthy, tribal, and bohemian centerpieces.  Antique bronze discs are interspersed in the front third of the necklace and two sparkly blue goldstone beads, an adjustable clasp, and an antique bronze Kwan Yin charm with pink jade and blue goldstone dangle complete the necklace.

The necklace looks great with a range of colors from black to white to pink and even yellow.  This is due to its many hues that are enhanced even more by light.  When I bought the ceramic globes in New Mexico years ago, I loved their color along with their pattern and texture.  I use these globes sparingly and I think this design wouldn't be complete without them!  The black and gold Lucite balls are textured and pick up the color of the centerpieces and vintage beads.  Wow.  I really love this design, and I know you will also!

Looks amazing with so many colors!
The is necklace is of moderate weight and measures 18 1/4" at its shortest length to 19 1/4" at its longest length.  The largest globes are just under an inch in diameter.  The dangle near the clasp is about 1 1/2" long and the Kwan Yin charm is the size of a quarter.

Sage Necklace: Jasper & Pyrite Statement Necklace

This one-of-a-kind necklace features beautiful and unique turquoise jasper stones accented by free-form pyrite nuggets.   The necklace is reversible as the Guanyin (Kwan Yin) centerpiece and replica Chinese dynasty coins are double-sided.  The jasper stones have a warm, wavelike sage green color with deep brown bands and the pyrite, also called Fool's Gold, really brings out the beauty of the jasper and the antique bronze coin pieces.

Guanyin is the Bodhisattva of compassion and is believed to observe or hear the cries of the world; on the back of this quarter-sized centerpiece is the yin yang symbol.   The dynasty coins, which are penny-sized, bring luck with a dragon on one side and Chinese characters on the other.

This distinctive necklace is as stunning as it is bohemian and is sure to bring compliments.  It is moderate weight and closes with an adjustable antique bronze toggle clasp that adjusts from 14 3/4" to 16 1/4".

The last two pictures show the reverse side of the necklace.

Kathmandu Dreams I Necklace

Elegant, yet dramatic, "Kathmandu Dreams I" is the first necklace in my Kathmandu Dreams series.  The focal point of this necklace is the solid brass pendant with intricate lotus flower detail and turquoise and coral inlay, which was designed and handmade by a Nepalese artisan.  Free-form green turquoise beads, handcrafted reconstituted blue turquoise beads, faceted and square cut brick red jasper beads, and Tierracast gold plated pewter Turkish and  smooth rondelles complete this one-of-a-kind necklace.

The free-form green turquoise beads, which are a lovely blend of viridian and blue inflections, have a beautiful, rich matrix.  The handcrafted blue reconstituted turquoise beads are unique and echo the texture of the pendant.  Both varieties of turquoise coupled with the rich, red jasper, and Tierracast beads create harmony with the Nepalese pendant, which rests on a piece of starry, midnight blue goldstone.

Slightly over 1 ¾" by 2 ½" (including the bail), the pendant weighs about a 1/2 lb.  This necklace is of light to moderate weight with 19 1/2" of stones and is 21" with the antiqued gold flower toggle clasp.
