*SOLD* Amazonite, Vermeil, and Mother of Pearl Necklace: Kathrina - OOAK

Kathrina: Elegant and bohemian...

"Kathrina" is the first necklace in my high-end collection featuring vermeil, amazonite, and a mother of pearl stone encased in a 22 karat gold plated brass pendant.  This one-of-a-kind necklace is both classic and bohemian as its design combines an elegant shade of aquamarine blue with matte gold components with  organic textures.  The name Kathrina, a variant of the Greek name Katherine, means "pure," which I feel is apropos.

Each faceted amazonite stone is a natural pastel shade of aqua blue and is separated by a piece of faceted vermeil.  There are over thirty pieces of vermeil, 22 karat gold plated sterling silver, in this exquisite necklace.

The focal piece of this necklace is a mother of pearl stone in a beautiful 22 karat matte gold plated brass pendant.  Three matte gold plated brass drops add interest and movement to the centerpiece.  The mother of pearl is a lovely opalescent white and looks stunning set against the matte gold frame.  The pendant is 2 1/8" wide and 2" long from top of bail to end of drops.

Two organically textured 22 karat gold plated brass tubes echo and compliment the textured bail of the mother of pearl pendant.

Near the ends of the necklace are two 22 karat matte gold plated brass cones with floral scalloping and a lightly textured motif.  Tiny white shell beads terminate each side of the necklace and add balance to the design.

The necklace ranges from 20 5/8" to 22 1/2" long.  At 22", or matinee length,  it is versatile for office, evening, and casual wear.  And, worn at it's shortest length, it would look lovely with a v-neck or sweetheart neckline wedding gown.  Kathrina closes with a vintage-style lobster clasp (see the first three images of this post for details).

For those interested in the necklace's metaphysical properties, the combination of mother of pearl, amazonite, and gold make this necklace perfect for increasing intuition and creativity.  In addition to the latter properties, Amazonite is associated with the throat chakra, which helps communication and understanding.  Mother of Pearl, also known for its ability to increase one's intuition and psychic abilities, is associated with the heart chakra.  Because this necklace has a high gold content, it is important to note that gold holds and therefore increases the energies of the other stones in the necklace (source here) .

*SOLD* Lillian III Earrings: Amethyst & Lilac Stone Inspired by Thai Water Lilies

I love my Lillian I earrings, so I decided to make a similar pair that is also  one-of-a-kind.   These lightweight earrings are full of movement and the purple and gold--the colors of the Thai Water Lilies that inspired my Lillian Collection.

These earrings feature deep purple to violet amethyst chips and Delica®, glass, silver-lined chocolate seed beads, which are secured by a gold tube bead on gold-over-brass teardrop hoops.  A golden faceted bead, heavily plated with 22 karat gold, a lilac stone, and a precious Delica® seed bead complete the drop that dances below the amethyst.

This third version of Lillian earrings will compliment the Lillian I or Lillian II necklaces well.  Lillian III earrings come with ear nuts so you can wear them fastened through the first or second ring, for a touch of elegance, or unfastened, for a more contemporary look (e.g. see images above and below).  They are approximately 2" long fastened or unfastened (including the 3/4" drop).

What I'm working on...

I've been ordering materials and sketching ideas like mad lately.  I'm very excited about pieces I will be making in the next couple of months.  I plan to create a few high-end pieces featuring vermeil, Karen Hill Tribe silver, and 22k and 24k gold dipped brass.   Currently, all the materials I use are carefully chosen and of high quality, but I'd like to design a few pieces that are considered "fine jewelry" for those looking for the perfect wedding day necklace, anniversary gift, or special birthday present.

One piece that I'm working and am truly in love with features amazonite in a beautiful pale aquamarine shade, vermeil, and a 22k gold over brass pendant.  When the special clasp arrives along with a few other accents, I'll compete the design and begin work on another fine necklace featuring white coral, an opaline mother-of-pearl pendant, gold dipped and vintage accents.  There is also a blue jade and gold piece in the works and a few minimalist designs featuring handcrafted Hill Tribe silver (which is approximately 99% pure silver).

I'm also researching materials for my next 13/20 piece.  I'm not sure if I want to make another bracelet, which is more functional for dancing, or a necklace or long earrings.  I'll decide and create something in the next few days.  And, there are a few Nepalese, Turkoman, and Afghani pieces I need to build designs around--I'm waiting on a few more materials to arrive and then I'll get to work.

I will say that all of the upcoming pieces will be one-of-a-kind, so I plan to spend a lot of time with my camera and good lighting before I send them off to new homes.

I'm off to sleep now, as it's almost 2am local time!

Lillian II Earrings: Vintage Lucite & Lilac Stone Inspired by Thai Water Lilies

The Lillian collection has been my favorite by far.  I love the glamorous combination of purple and gold, which is inspired by Thai Water Lilies.  The Lillian II necklace and earrings will complete this collection for now as I plan to work on a few other designs.  I tried to capture the rich color of the amethyst and lilac stones in the photos while finding a setting that showed the detail and texture of the beautiful handmade Naga pendant in the necklace (see this post) and the vintage gold Lucite globes in the earrings .  These pieces really are beautiful and will bring many compliments!

Description:
These are the second pair of earrings in my Lillian collection, inspired by purple and gold Thai water lilies.  These match my Lillian II necklace (see the last image and link below), but will certainly make a statement of their own!

These earrings feature vintage gold Lucite globes (that look wonderful in any light), lilac stone beads, TierraCast gold plated pewter Turkish beads, and faceted beads heavily plated with 22-karat gold.  Two  Delica® silver-lined chocolate glass seed beads grace the end of each earring.  These statement-making earrings hang from gold plated brass  kidney wires and are approximately 2 1/8" long and 1/2" at their widest point.

These earrings are dramatic, but lightweight.  They are limited edition, as the golden Lucite balls are vintage.  Two pairs sold at my line launch and I've heard that they draw many compliments!

*SOLD* Lillian II Necklace: Amethyst & Naga Pendant Necklace Inspired by Thai Water Lilies

The Lillian collection has been my favorite by far.  I love the glamorous combination of purple and gold, which is inspired by Thai Water Lilies.  The Lillian II necklace and earrings will complete this collection for now as I plan to work on a few other designs.  I tried to capture the rich color of the amethyst and lilac stones in the photos while finding a setting that showed the detail and texture of the beautiful handmade Naga pendant in the necklace and the vintage gold Lucite globes in the earrings (see this post).  These pieces really are beautiful and will bring many compliments!

Description:

Lillian II is dramatic, unique, and the second necklace in my Lillian collection.  The centerpiece of this one-of-a-kind necklace is a solid brass handcrafted pendant made by the Naga craftspeople from Northeastern India.  The pendant measures 2 ½" wide by 2 ¾" long and its intricate circular design reveals the high level craftsmanship of the Naga people.  The pendant alone is sure to bring many compliments.

Eight faceted beads heavily plated with 22 karat gold add even more glamour to the necklace while bringing attention to the free-form one-of-a-kind tumbled amethyst and vintage Lucite golden globes.  The  vintage globes have a highly textured surface that looks wonderful in any light.

In low light with high flash.

Paired with the Naga pendant, the amethyst looks amazing noting that amethyst has long been associated with royalty and known as "the most highly prized form of quartz. The tumbled free-form amethyst stones in this necklace range from deep royal purple to light violet and they all have unique striations making this necklace truly unique.

Additionally, two lilac stone beads add interest to the Naga pendant's bail.  Lilac stone is a variety of quartz that is new to the mineral market.  Also called lavender stone, these beads are a graceful blend of grey and light and dark lavender hues.  Lilac stone beads beads at the ends of the necklace near the clasp.  The necklace closes with a golden toggle clasp, is moderately heavy, and is approximately 18 ¼" long.

Two lilac stones anchor the pendant to the design.

Metaphysically Speaking:

Amethyst is a powerful stone replete with protective and psychic enhancing properties.  And, according to BestCrystals.com, it helps with meditation, as it "cuts through illusion," and imparts a sense of peace and strength.  Traditionally, amethyst is February's birthstone and it is associated with Aquarius and Pisces.  Because of its other properties, it is also associated with Virgo and Capricorn.  Learn more about amethyst here: http://www.bestcrystals.com/amethyst.html.
