A Comprehensive Update

Hi everyone,

I arrived in North Carolina eight years ago today. Wow. So much has happened in those eight years. I completed my PhD in English this May, so now I have more time to devote to creating (before I begin teaching at an area university for at least one year).

I've completed a number of custom pieces and I've sold a few pieces since my last post. I'll share a few photos here below. In general, I've wanted this blog to serve as a digital portfolio for my jewelry work. Many of my designs are one-of-a-kind or have limited runs due to available materials. However, if you find something you love that I've sold, or you'd like me to create a custom piece for you, please do let me know. In some cases I can create something similar to what I've sold, and I've made pieces tailored to customer's desires. Welcoming spring!

I'm back!

Dear friends and fans,

I've been away for far too long, but, alas, studying for and completing my PhD exams took precedence over making jewelry.  The good news is that I passed all eleven hours worth of my exams (the last exam was just this past Monday the 27th), and, to celebrate, I've made three new necklaces that are full of spring colors !

I'll post these lovelies within the next week and hopefully I'll have a couple of pairs of earrings to share as well.  For now, here are a few preview shots!

I made these lovelies to match my Lillian I necklace, a part of my my Lillian series, which is inspired by exquisite purple and gold Thai Water Lilies (see the second picture and link below).

These earrings feature deep purple to violet amethyst chips atop a golden faceted bead, heavily plated with 22 karat gold, and a lilac stone drop finished with a precious Delica®, glass, silver-lined chocolate seed bead.

*SOLD* Romance Bracelet: Rhodonite & Lilac Stone

You'll feel romantic and beautiful in this rhodonite and lilac stone bracelet accented with pewter Tierracast Turkish rondelles. 

The focal stone is a deep purple amethyst with earthy inclusions that led me to make it the centerpiece of this design.  Rosy pink rhodonite comes from Australia, Sweden, and Vancouver and because of its natural deep colored inclusions, it is easy to wear with soft, cool colors in spring and warmer hues in autumn.  Rhodonite is relaxing and quiets our busy minds.  It beckons us to stop and breathe in the scent of honeysuckle on a breeze or really take in the deep perfume of red roses.  Lilac stone is a variety of quartz that is new to the mineral market.  Also called lavender stone, these beads are a graceful blend of grey and light and dark lavender hues. 

This bracelet measures 8" including the silver toggle clasp and will fit most wrists. 

For reference, my wrist is 6" and when standing with my arm at my side, the bracelet rests on the top of my hand about 2 1/2" from my wrist.

*SOLD* Lillian I Necklace

This necklace is a part of my Lillian series, which is inspired by exquisite purple and gold Thai Water Lilies.  Lillian I is elegant and unique.  Each faceted amethyst stone is unique and varies from deep violet to translucent lilac.  Some stones have distinctive striations.  Fourteen faceted beads heavily plated with 22 karat gold add a touch of grace to the necklace. Finished with an antiqued gold flower clasp, Lillian I will bring you many compliments. This necklace is of moderate-weight  and is 17" long, 18" long including clasp, with individual stones approximately 1/2" wide and 3/4" long. Buy it on Etsy!
