*SOLD* The Rachel - OOAK Pink Jade Necklace with Lucite & Vintage Lucite, Ceramic, and Antique Bronze Globes

I have a bad habit.  I love to make pieces that become instant favorites!  This necklace, The Rachel, named for my best friend who suggested the basic color scheme, is one of those instant favorites.  It is bohemian, one-of-a-kind, and full of color and texture.  If you don't like to receive compliments, or have pieces that you can wear  with a host of colors and for almost any occasion, then this isn't the necklace for you!  But, if you do love to hear, "Where did you get that?" or "Wow, what a necklace!" then The Rachel is definitely a Bohemian Earth design you should seriously consider (and, you'll know that you are the only person wearing this one-of-a-kind piece)!

Many materials went into this necklace's design.  It features hot pink jade gemstones, six black and gold Lucite globes, two vintage faceted aged gold Lucite beads from Turkey with an amazing pattern, four ceramic globes with beautiful greens, browns, and a touch of turquoise blue, and two antiqued brass Bali style beads, which make Earthy, tribal, and bohemian centerpieces.  Antique bronze discs are interspersed in the front third of the necklace and two sparkly blue goldstone beads, an adjustable clasp, and an antique bronze Kwan Yin charm with pink jade and blue goldstone dangle complete the necklace.

The necklace looks great with a range of colors from black to white to pink and even yellow.  This is due to its many hues that are enhanced even more by light.  When I bought the ceramic globes in New Mexico years ago, I loved their color along with their pattern and texture.  I use these globes sparingly and I think this design wouldn't be complete without them!  The black and gold Lucite balls are textured and pick up the color of the centerpieces and vintage beads.  Wow.  I really love this design, and I know you will also!

Looks amazing with so many colors!
The is necklace is of moderate weight and measures 18 1/4" at its shortest length to 19 1/4" at its longest length.  The largest globes are just under an inch in diameter.  The dangle near the clasp is about 1 1/2" long and the Kwan Yin charm is the size of a quarter.

My Stormy Neptune earrings also go well with this necklace.  Read about them here and buy them on Etsy.

*SOLD* Pink Lantern Earrings - OOAK Pink Jade, Blue Goldstone, & Kuan Yin Carms

These one-of-a-kind earrings are fun, bright, and lively.  They feature two sided antique bronze Kwan Yin (Guanyin, Kuan Yin) charms with pink jade and blue goldstone dangles.  Kwan Yin is the Bodhisattva of compassion and is believed to hear the cries of the world; on the back of this quarter-sized piece is the yin yang symbol.  The deep midnight blue goldstone looks almost black, and its flecks of copper bring even more movement and glamour to these eye-catching earrings.

These look amazing with hot pink, black, and white accents.

According to BestCrystals.com, Pink jade promotes,"Harmony, peace, fidelity, confidence [and is] a wonderful dream stone," which I think is fitting paired with Kwan Yin.  These moderate weight earrings are 3 1/8" long total.  The charms and dangles measure 2 1/8" alone.

These earrings were inspired by The Rachel necklace!

Maggie Goes to the Cinna-bar Necklace & Maggie Bracelet - OOAK

The Maggie Collection
*
Maggie Goes to the Cinna-bar Necklace

I had a lot of fun designing and making this necklace and bracelet set.  The pieces naturally go together but will also stand alone and make a statement.  The name "Maggie" affectionately refers to each piece's high magnesite content.  The necklace is striking, substantial, and one-of-a-kind.  Three large Asian-style black cinnabar beads add weight and interest to the composition of white and pink magnesite with heavy matrices.  A carved black lucky cinnabar fish, silver accent beads, and Tibetan silver lucky fish clasp complete the fun, chunky necklace.   All together, the necklace marries the Southwestern U.S. with Asian influences and makes what I'd call an "east meets west" piece.  The main colors, white, pink, and black, will look amazing dressed up with a solid black, white, or pink strapless column dress or dressed down with a classic white t-shirt and jeans. The necklace measures 20" long and is of moderate weight.

More about Magnesite:
Magnesite has the same crystal structure as calcite, which is similar in texture and hardness to marble and turquoise.  In gem lore, magnesite is known for its ability to calm, bring emotional balance, open wearers up to "higher realms and states of consciousness," and get them in touch with themselves beyond veils of perceptions.  It is also believed to clear blockages and hang-ups over the past and open the third eye and crown chakras, which bolsters psychic abilities and promotes bliss (source here).

Maggie Bracelet

Like the Maggie necklace, this bracelet is one-of-a-kind and statement making.  The combination of hot pink, white, and black makes both pieces versatile and wearable with many other colors.  Both pieces draw from the Southwest and the turquoise in the bracelet brings this influence (subtly) to the forefront.  I've had the turquoise for many years along with the faceted hematite beside it--it's like the pieces were waiting for each other and this bracelet's composition--they work very well together.  The black carved agate flower echos the detail of the carved cinnabar fish in the Maggie Necklace, yet sets the bracelet a part and lets it stand on its own.  The bracelet is 8 1/2" long, will fit up to a 7" wrist comfortably, and closes with a Tibetan silver toggle clasp.

Pink Fire: Gale's Custom Order

I loved designing this custom necklace for Gale.  She wanted something that would match her summery pink strapless dress.  When she told what she wanted--something very pink, chunky, funky,  and one of a kind--I immediately thought of agate.  In the finished piece, four faceted, free-form pink agate stones compose the centerpiece of the necklace.  Agate comes in a variety of colors and its striations and inclusions make each piece truly unique.  (See detail on the left below.)

Metaphysically, agate is powerful stone.  According to BestCrystals.com, agate "balances ying-yang energy, stabilizes the aura, facilitates discernment, imparts strength and courage, opens one to innate creative talents."  Gale also wanted the necklace to highlight the light pink and white of the dress, so I thought column shaped pink striped fire agate stones would add balance and further interest to the finished design.  Like the other agate stones, each piece has its own distinctive inclusions and matrix pattern.

To create a sense of dimension and difference, I chose round faceted rose pink jade, which ultimately enhances the necklace's metaphysical properties.  BestCrystals.com tells us that jade promotes,"Harmony, peace, fidelity, confidence [and is] a wonderful dream stone."

Silver accents finish the necklace and compliment its cool pink tone.  The silver toggle clasp is Tibetan style, and the two white pearl shell beads that terminate the necklace stimulate "intuition, sensitivity, imagination and adaptability" along with providing "insight into decision-making [and]cooperation between the self and others"(CharmsofLight.com).

Many thanks to Gale for the opportunity to design this one-of-a-kind piece!

For reference, the necklace measures 18 3/4" long.
