Généviève

Introducing Généviève...
the first Bohemian Earth piece of 2012

When I completed this necklace, the name"Généviève" came to mind.  I think Généviève sounds elegant and graceful, which seems fitting for this multistrand statement piece.

The necklace features three strands of faceted deep red garnet.  On each strand of garnet, there is one beautifully detailed antiqued solid copper bead.  The deep red of the garnet complements the blue green turquoise rondelles that make make up the top half of the necklace.  These turquoise rondelles have a lovely earthy matrix and are accented further by eight rustic, faceted solid copper beads.  The necklace closes with a solid copper s-clasp.
This necklace will be an elegant birthday present for a Capricorn or a woman born in January.  The Copper plated pewter links, reminiscent of hearts, that connect the two parts of the necklace also make this one-of-a-kind necklace a lovely Valentine's Day gift that can be worn year round.

Garnet encourages good health, creativity, and devotion and commitment to oneself and others.  Turquoise is a powerful healing stone that can help wearers with meditation, balance, and communication. It is also a protective stone that enhances love, friendship, and loyalty.  Copper enhances non-verbal communication, gives energy for the tired and aids in grounding the restless.

The name Généviève is French with possible Germanic or Celtic origins and means "woman of the people."

Teagan in Istanbul: Moasic Turquoise, Antiqued Copper, and Ceramic Globe Bracelet:

Teagan in Istanbul....

This bracelet is the second incarnation of the original Teagan bracelet I sold at my line launch back in May.  As with the first bracelet and all of my other items, I try to choose names that reflect a piece's spirit.  I named this bracelet featuring blue-green mosaic turquoise and a turquoise, green, and brown ceramic focal bead "Teagan in Istanbul" because of its flecks of rich teal and adjustable clasp that includes an Ottoman coin charm on its end.  I hope I've captured the color I love in this bracelet within its name.

The Ottoman coin charm which inspires part of the bracelet's name

Accented with antique copper findings, this bracelet measures 8 1/2" long and  fits wrists from 5 3/4 to 6 5/8 wide.  It suits small to medium-sized wrists best and light to moderate weight.  Just so you know, there will be a small Teagan series, with each piece being slightly different (aka one-of-a-kind).

September Bracelet: Orange Jade, Textured Silver Rounds, and Antiqued Copper Globe

Another new bracelet....

This bracelet  reminds me of the month of September with its harvest color palette, but I'm sure it would look lovely from the lazy days of summer to the frost-bitten days of winter.

Six textured silver  rounds, chunky and organic, compliment the rich antiqued copper tone globe and light pumpkin-orange carved jade beads.  Two heavily plated and faceted silver beads frame the antiqued copper globe with floral detail.  Near the toggle bar, a tiny white shell bead adds interest to the design.

Perhaps the most interesting detail about this bracelet is the carved jade beads.  I've consulted and some say they look like little pigs, and it so happens that in some cultures, pigs are lucky!  Both the Chinese and Irish consider the pig to be a symbol of luck, and the Chinese believe they bring luck and success to businesses (see source).  So, let this bracelet bring a little luck into your life!

The bracelet is 7 1/2" long and fits a wrist up to 6 1/2".

Autumn Moss: OOAK Russian Serpentine & Antique Copper Necklace

This necklace is a redesign.  Originally, it was named "Moss" and consisted of the Russian serpentine stones and two antiqued copper globes (the latter are absent from the present design).  I photographed it many times and was simply unhappy with the results.  I thought that the necklace needed something more in order to photograph well, since pictures are what buyers' decisions are largely based on.  The Russian serpentine is quite lovely and I wanted to pair it with something that showcased the beauty of the stones.  I am happy with the redesigned necklace with its antiqued copper accents and faceted firepolished Czech glass beads in a rich copper brown.

The name "Autumn Moss" endeavors to capture the beautiful greens and browns in this one-of-a-kind necklace of Russian serpentine, firepolished Czech beads, and antique copper accents.  The serpentine is an olive-pistachio green with a beautiful matrix of forest and hunter green--very lovely.

On the end of each piece of serpentine is an antique copper flower cap and between each pair of flower caps is a faceted, firepolished Czech glass bead in an rich shade of iridescent coppery brown.  These "Crystal Picasso" Czech beads capture and reflect light beautifully.

The focal point of the necklace is an antique copper barrel with a floral filigree design.  Four Czech firepolished beads frame the barrel and reveal its elegant design.

"Autumn Moss" closes with an antique copper toggle and bar clasp with its own intricate design.  The necklace is 22", or matinee length, which is a versatile length for office, evening, and casual wear.  And, it is ½" wide at its widest points.

 For lovers of gemstone lore:
Associated with Aries, serpentine acts as a catalyst for joy, increases clarity, and enhances cellular growth while activating Kundalini energy.  It is also known for its ability to attract love and money and helps us become attuned and open to nature spirits and the Earth's serpent energy (hence its name!).  Read more about serpentine here: http://www.thatcrystalsite.com/guide/properties-glossary.php?init=s

These pictures taken in low light with bright flash reveal the strikingly beautiful nature of serpentine.

*SOLD* Fire Priestess Bracelet: Red Cinnabar & Antiqued Copper

I love the rich colors in this bracelet.  I've paired antiqued copper beads, with intricate floral detail, and rich, red cinnabar beads to create a fiery design.  (A fire priestess, or fire sign, wouldn't leave home without it!)

I bought the smaller cinnabar beads about five years ago and never incorporated them into a design.  These oval beads feature a deeply carved floral pattern, are 5/8" wide and 1/2" tall.  I placed them temporarily in a few arrangements, but never felt I had the right combination of elements.  Everything changed when I paired the beads with the large circular focal piece and this one-of-a-kind piece was born.

The focal red cinnabar bead has a floral wreath pattern and a carved center with an Asian design.  This piece measures 1 1/8" in diameter.  The antiqued copper beads create balance and  daisy spacers add drama and interest.

By the way, in Chinese and other East Asian cultures, red has long been associated with luck and happiness, so wearing this bracelet can only be good for you!

Clasped, this bracelet measures 7 ½".  From both ends of the toggle clasp, it measures 9".  This lightweight bracelet will work best for medium to large wrists.  For reference, though, it looks great on my 6" wrist.
