Latest Custom Pieces

Two custom pieces I completed today!

"Lauren" Earrings

When I finished these earrings, I said, "They are very Lauren!"  So, I named them after her (and hope she feels the same!).

Faceted turquoise, lovely cut natural garnet, and silver-line chocolate Delica® seed beads compose these simple, yet dramatic, earrings.  Turquoise is a powerful healing stone that can help wearers with meditation, balance, and communication.  It is associated with Taurus and Aquarius.  Turquoise is a protective stone that enhances love, friendship, and loyalty.  Garnet is also a stone associated with healing and health and is believed to increase creative powers and encourage action.  It has been known as a stone of devotion and stimulates the base and crown Chakras, which helps energy flow positively.  Garnet is associated with Scorpio and Aquarius.

"Apolloneia" Earrings

These earrings make me think of the warmth of the sun.  So, I named them Apolloneia, which is a female variant of the Greek god Apollo's name.  Apollo is the god of the sun, music, poetry, and light and knowledge among other things.

Wood beads from Indonesia, natural white coral, and gold textured wavy discs on top of ornate headpins compose these elegant earrings.  The wood beads, from Indonesia, are handcrafted, which means that each one is slightly different, but they all have a starry night-like patten.  Coral is known for its ability to bring internal peace, settle emotions, and aids intuition, visualization, and the circulatory and nervous systems. Coral is associated with the sun sign Libra.

River's Way Bracelet: Custom Order

A custom order with an inspired, yet spontaneous, design...

River's Way

The owner of this bracelet gave me free reign with a design, and because she is a dear friend, I wanted it to be unique, very wearable, and reflective of her personality.  I thought my Teagan bracelet would be a nice foundation to base this new design on because of it's versatility and color scheme (blue is the owner's favorite color).

This bracelet, of an intentional asymmetrical design, features blue-green mosaic turquoise, turquoise blue chips, a gunmetal wire globe, and a lucky fish charm near the Tibetan silver toggle clasp.  Asymmetrical placements intrigue me because I feel they they add movement and liveliness to designs..  When I completed this bracelet, the first image that came to mind was the movement of a bright blue river flowing through a vibrant. fertile landscape; thus, "River's Way" was born.

Turquoise is a powerful healing stone that can help wearers with meditation, balance, and communication.  It is also a protective stone that enhances love, friendship, and loyalty.  Find out more about Turquoise here.   The blue turquoise chips add color and dimension to the off centered focal point of the bracelet.  I've had these blue chips for a long time, and only a limited amount remain.  They are a rich turquoise blue and may be either natural turquoise or dyed howlite.  The lucky fish charm (the only one I have) is suspended by an iris blue stream of Delica seed beads, which adds uniqueness and a touch of youthfulness to the design.

Teagan in Istanbul: Moasic Turquoise, Antiqued Copper, and Ceramic Globe Bracelet:

Teagan in Istanbul....

This bracelet is the second incarnation of the original Teagan bracelet I sold at my line launch back in May.  As with the first bracelet and all of my other items, I try to choose names that reflect a piece's spirit.  I named this bracelet featuring blue-green mosaic turquoise and a turquoise, green, and brown ceramic focal bead "Teagan in Istanbul" because of its flecks of rich teal and adjustable clasp that includes an Ottoman coin charm on its end.  I hope I've captured the color I love in this bracelet within its name.

The Ottoman coin charm which inspires part of the bracelet's name

Accented with antique copper findings, this bracelet measures 8 1/2" long and  fits wrists from 5 3/4 to 6 5/8 wide.  It suits small to medium-sized wrists best and light to moderate weight.  Just so you know, there will be a small Teagan series, with each piece being slightly different (aka one-of-a-kind).

Desert Fire: Orange Agate, White Magnesite, & Turquoise Blue - OOAK Bold Southwestern Statement Necklace

Bold. Vibrant. One of a Kind.

This one-of-a-kind necklace is bold, vibrant, and statement making.  It features seven free-form agate slices separated by goldstone.  White magnesite and  hand-cut carnelian add interest to the design and echo the colors in the agate slices.  Pops of turquoise blue and antique copper complete the design.

The orange agate slices are striking and each stone is unique.  The white magnesite has a heavy brown matrix and looks amazing next to the rich orange carnelian chunks.

This necklace is of substantial weight and will bring a touch of Southwestern glamour, while evoking the colors of a stunning desert landscape, to your decollete.

Agate is a protective stone and increases courage and self-esteem.  Carnelian is also a courage stone and it opens one's heart, and brings joy into one's life.  With the calming properties of magnesite, this necklace has a nice, energetic balance (source here).

The blue turquoise chips add contrast to the necklace.  I've had these blue chips for a long time, and only a limited amount remain.  They are a rich turquoise blue and may be either natural turquoise or dyed howlite.

The necklace closes with an antique copper lobster clasp and can be adjusted from 21" to 23".  "Desert Fire" is a versatile matinee length and will look great for evening, office, or casual wear.  There is a replica Ottoman coin charm at the end of the extender, which brings a touch of the East to this Southwestern infused necklace.

Coming Soon...

While I wait on a few more materials to arrive for my high-end collection, I've been working on a necklace featuring white magnesite, blue turquoise, amber, and pyrite along with a bracelet featuring green cinnabar, mustard colored natural seeds, and white coral.

I'm really excited about these pieces.  The bracelet is right-on for fall, which is only a few months away, and the colors and design will make this piece one-of-a-kind and a piece one can wear for seasons and years to come.  The necklace has a southwest feel with a bit of an edge--I'm saving further details until it's complete.

I'm also designing a few silver-toned earrings that will most likely feature chunky, organic-looking silver pieces and dramatic rustic silver drops. These earrings will be substantial and statement-making (I may have to make a copy for myself!).

More than one of these pieces should be ready and posted here and on Etsy by the end of this week... I'm looking forward to completing them and their subsequent unveiling!

Update 8/7/11:  See the fall colors bracelet and the chunky earrings that evolved into another bracelet here and here.  I'll finish and re-envision the other items this week!

*SOLD* Taos Sunshine: Turquoise & Yellow Jade Necklace

"I think this necklace is glorious.  It's full of sunshine and color!"

This necklace is named for Taos, New Mexico because it evokes the colors of the region and takes me back to the time I lived in New Mexico.  I think this necklace is glorious.  It's full of sunshine and color!

"Taos Sunshine" is one-of-a-kind and features lovely Meyer Lemon-y yellow jade.  The yellow is positively gorgeous paired with the chunky blue turquoise stones.  Some turquoise nuggets have a heavy matrix, others have hints of green and brown veining.  Little silver beads separate each piece of turquoise, so each unique nugget stands out on its own.

The key focal point of the necklace is the white bone pendant bead carved into a beautiful rose.  Two faceted silver beads frame the flower pendant, which measures just under an inch across.
The necklace adjusts from 16 ½" to 18" and will bring lovely summery color to your decollete.

New Pictures!

Those who know me well know that I have a touch of perfectionism, so I've been retaking pictures of a lot of my pieces and experimenting with lighting, camera settings, and angles.  My goal is to reproduce their colors and texture as accurately as I am able.  So, here are a few new shots I've uploaded to my Etsy listings.

Mint Tea I & II: Green Turquoise & Silver Leaves

Mint Tea I and II are the same design, but one pair has a heavier matrix than the other, making them both one-of-a-kind finished pieces.  I love the way the light plays on the wood surface while showcasing the beautiful turquoise and silver pairing.

The turquoise in Mint Tea I has a heavier matrix.

With a hint of sunlight...

These earrings are elegant, bohemian, and contemporary all at once.  They feature light green turquoise stones and silver leaf drops, and they remind me of how I feel when I enjoy cool mint tea on a warm summer morning.  They also have a slight southwestern flair.  Mint I and II are lightweight, 2 ½" long, and hang on silver-over-brass french hook wires.

The turquoise in Mint Tea II has a lighter, more diffuse matrix.

In soft morning light...

Please note that the turquoise is somewhat lighter and softer in person than the images above portray.  The image below best represents the true shade.
